Permanent Lighting in Austin
Your Austin house lit for every holiday, and the ladder never leaves the garage. Inception Lighting installs permanent color-changing LED lights on homes in Austin. We're based up in Denton, and we make the drive down to install here. The lights stay on the house all year. In daylight you'll have a hard time picking them out, and after dark you turn them on from your phone in whatever colors you want.
Control with the click of a button
With BlueHopper, you have the superpower of controlling lights! Available on both iOS & Android, BlueHopper is an incredibly user-friendly app with all the powerful features, even for those who are not tech-savvy.
Start by choosing a preset design, or easily customize your own and schedule it. It's that easy!

Why Austin homeowners are going permanent
Christmas lights in Austin usually go up on a warm weekend in late November. You're on a ladder in the sun, and the strand that worked last year won't light. Then January comes and somebody has to climb back up to take it all down.
We put your lights up one time, and after that the colors, patterns and schedule are yours to change in the BlueHopper app whenever you feel like it.
Austin has plenty of places to go see lights in December. Families walk the Trail of Lights in Zilker Park and stand under the Zilker Tree. People park a few blocks off and stroll the homemade displays on 37th Street, and Mozart's on Lake Austin Boulevard puts on its light show over the water. Coming home from any of those is better when your own house is already glowing.
Made for how Austin celebrates
- Longhorn football Saturdays. Put the house in burnt orange and white on Friday night and let it ride through the weekend if the game goes well.
- Austin FC match days call for verde and black.
- Spring is wildflower season around here. A soft mix of blues, purples and yellows fits right in after a trip to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.
- Red, white and blue for the Fourth, orange and purple for Halloween, and your favorite Christmas colors from Thanksgiving on.
- On an ordinary weeknight, plain warm white makes the porch and front walk easier to see when you get home late.
You can line up a full year of schedules in the app, up to twelve months ahead. There are 16 million colors to pick from, and the whites go from a cozy 1800K up to a bright 6800K.
Homes we light in Austin
- Mueller, the master-planned neighborhood east of I-35 with Mueller Lake Park at its center. A lit house gets noticed on the walk home from the park.
- Circle C Ranch in far southwest Austin, near Slaughter Lane and the big metro park. Lots of family homes on good-sized lots, and during the day the lights tuck in with the trim so nobody's the wiser.
- Older central neighborhoods like Allandale, Tarrytown and Barton Hills, plus the mid-century ranch homes in Northwest Hills. Folks there usually like their house the way it is, and that's how it still looks in daylight.
- Avery Ranch up north and Steiner Ranch out toward Lake Travis. It's nice to turn onto your street and see the house already lit.
Have an HOA? Mention it on your estimate request and we'll talk it through with you.
How it works
- Request your free estimate. Tell us about your home on the Free Estimate page.
- Get your custom quote. Price depends on how many feet of roofline you want lit, the number of stories, and which sides of the house you want covered.
- Pick your install date. Install dates are booked in the order estimates are approved, so the earlier you request, the more dates you'll have before Christmas.
- Light it up. Download the app and run the house from your phone, with presets for every holiday or your own custom designs.

Austin permanent lighting FAQ
Can I set the house to burnt orange for Longhorn games?
Yes. Save burnt orange and white as a preset and schedule it for game days. When the weekend's over, switch back to warm white.
Will my lights be ready for Trail of Lights season?
They will if they're installed beforehand. Set your Christmas look to come on when the Trail opens and stay on through New Year's. Install dates go in the order estimates are approved, so asking early helps.
What would it cost to light my house?
Your price comes down to how much of the roofline you want lit, how many stories you have, and which sides of the house you'd like covered. The free estimate gives you a real number.
Will the neighbors see anything during the day?
Probably not. The track is color-matched to your trim, so it reads as part of the house until the lights come on.
Can the kids use the app too?
Yes. Everyone in the family can use it and save their own designs.
Is there a warranty?
Yes. The lights carry a 5-year manufacturer's warranty.
Do you install outside Austin?
We do. We install all around Austin and well beyond, so put your address on the estimate request and we'll take it from there.
Ready to get started?
