Why Dallas homeowners are going permanent
Here's what we hear on a lot of calls from Dallas. Somebody spent two weekends hanging strands, one string quit working by Christmas Eve, and then it all had to come down in January. Or they paid a crew to do it and got the same bill again the next fall. With permanent lights that cycle ends. We put them up one time and you run everything after that from your phone.
Dallas doesn't do the holidays halfway. The Dallas Holiday Parade comes down Commerce Street downtown every December, and Klyde Warren Park lights its tree with a free day of activities and photos with Santa. Families make a night of the 12 Days of Christmas at the Dallas Arboretum, Dallas Zoo Lights and the model trains at NorthPark. It's nice to come home from any of that and find your own house already glowing.
Made for how Dallas celebrates
- Game days. Go red and blue for the SMU Mustangs, or Cowboys blue and silver on Sundays. Go back to white after the game.
- Christmas looks from Thanksgiving through New Year's, from a classic warm white to full multicolor.
- Red, white and blue for the Fourth, orange and purple for Halloween, green for St. Patrick's Day and pastels around Easter.
- A plain warm white most nights. The house looks good from the street, and the walk up to your door stays lit.
You can set schedules as far as twelve months ahead in BlueHopper, the app that runs your lights. It has presets for the holidays, room for your own designs, 16 million colors and whites anywhere from 1800K to 6800K.
Homes we light in Dallas
Dallas is a big city with a lot of different houses, and we light homes in every part of it.
- Lakewood, near White Rock Lake, with its older Tudor and Craftsman homes. Owners there usually care a lot about how the house looks during the day, and that doesn't change once the lights are up.
- The M Streets, where the old Tudors sit close together on small streets. A soft white or a little Christmas color looks great on that block at night.
- Lake Highlands, with mid-century ranch houses next to updated newer homes.
- Preston Hollow, where some of the big homes sit on large lots and you can see the whole house lit from the street.
- Oak Cliff, from the historic streets of Kessler Park and Winnetka Heights to the bungalows near Bishop Arts.
Some Dallas neighborhoods have an HOA or a neighborhood association. Have an HOA? Mention it on your estimate request and we'll talk it through with you.
How it works
- Request your free estimate. Tell us about your home on the Free Estimate page.
- Get your custom quote. Price depends on how many feet of roofline you want lit, the number of stories, and which sides of the house you want covered.
- Pick your install date. Install dates are booked in the order estimates are approved, so the earlier you request, the more dates you'll have before Christmas.
- Light it up. Download the app and run the house from your phone, with presets for every holiday or your own custom designs.

Dallas permanent lighting FAQ
I'm in an older house in Lakewood or the M Streets. Will the lights change how it looks?
Not during the day. The track is color-matched to your trim, so the house keeps its look until you switch the lights on.
Can I set my lights for SMU or Cowboys games?
Yes. Save your team colors as a preset and turn them on for game day, or put them on the schedule for the whole season. Switch back to white whenever you like.
Can I have the house lit in time for the Dallas Holiday Parade?
You can if it's installed before then. Install dates are booked in the order estimates are approved, so an early request leaves you more dates to choose from.
How much will it cost for my house?
Every house is different. Price depends on how much of the roofline you want lit, how many stories the house has and which sides you want covered. Your free estimate gives you the real number.
Can my whole family use the app?
Yes. Everyone in the house can use it and save their own designs.
Is there a warranty?
Yes. A 5-year manufacturer's warranty covers every set of lights we put up.
Can the lights change on their own for each holiday?
Yes, as much as twelve months ahead. Set each holiday once and the house changes over by itself.
Do you install outside Dallas?
Yes. We install all around Dallas and well beyond. Put your address in the estimate request and we'll take it from there.
Ready to get started?
The best install dates before Christmas go to the folks who ask first. Send in your free estimate request and you can spend December at the Arboretum instead of on a ladder.
